This theme seems awesome, but the "donate if you want it" sucks, sorry. I, and apparently i'm not the only one, am a student with no paypal account, so can't "buy" it. I know you've spend time on this, you'd like to be rewarded for this, but you should let this as a "donate if you want", just like the jailbreak programs. I believe these guys takes as much time as you do, and they don't "require" 2$ if you want to use what they've made. Well, whatever, thanks anyway. (yes i'm kinda pissed off)
I understand the frustration of people who are underage who don't have bank accounts or paypal. However, why does everyone seem to think things need to be given away for free? CS5 that was used to make this is like 500$ to buy! To some of these designers, this is either their job, or money they use to make ends meet. At any rate, Octavio spent months on this release, not to mention how long he spent on the original Illumine. Does that not give him the right to ask for some sort of payment? These artists are not entitled to give anything away for free and they shouldn't have to.
I understand the "need money" part, but I just think it should be if you want or not. And then, I like the idea of sharing, I take pictures and I share them with anyone who wants em, as long as they don't profit on my back. Also it's an iPhone theme, it's not a big software or an album or whatever...
To be honest, you're dead wrong. Taking pictures and spending countless hours working in Photoshop aren't even in the same stratosphere, so get a grip. I'm not trying to be rude, but in this case, your opinion is not only irrelevant but it's downright ridiculous. And really, it's 2 freaking dollars.
I know what it is to spend "countless hours working in Photoshop", I used to webdesign. But still, there are tons of iPhone theme (on macthemes for example) which are free and certainly took as much time to be made as this one. Whatever, it's useless, it's already on the internet, too bad uh ? (And btw, some icons aren't working on 4.2.1).
People like Octavio work really hard to design these icons. It takes a lot of time and effort, and they'd like to see something for the enjoyment that their services give others. Unfortunately it is hard to get picked up by Apple, or a firm that needs a graphic designer in this economy, so people like Octavio who consistently release their works need some source of income in order to be able to invest their time in these projects.
As much as we all love all the free work that has been released, the fact that most of it has been free has been due to the generosity of the artists. We can't blame those who do charge for wanting to put food on the table.
The one thing that could be changed is instead of calling the payment method "donations", instead calling it "pay-what-you-can*". Ultimately a $2 minimum* is tiny considering the effort that has gone into it, but donations connotes that there is an option of receiving the service/product for free if one can't afford or if one is stingy.
Otherwise awesome job Octavio and keep up the good work!
